A dental bonding procedure is usually a single visit appointment and takes about 45-60 minutes per tooth. If there are several teeth that require dental bonding then there may be multiple appointments or there will be more time allotted for the procedure. Before the appointment begins, our team will select the shade of composite resin that most closely resembles your tooth color so we can make the bonding seem flawless.
After the shade is selected, the tooth is sometime modified to improve the appearance and make the resin bond stronger. There is a conditioning gel that is applied onto the tooth to help the resin bind tightly to the tooth. Several composite layers are applied onto the surface and contoured into the desired shape. The resin is hardened with a special dental ultraviolet light. After the resin is fully hardened then the resin is smoothed, buffed, and polished to blend in naturally with the adjacent teeth.
